Don Franzen is an Adjunct Professor at the Herb Alpert School of Music, UCLA, Music Industry Program, and at Peabody Conservatory, Johns Hopkins University. He has also lectured at other colleges and universities including Berklee School of Music in Valencia, Spain, and California Institute of the Arts.

At UCLA, Don teaches three classes as part of its Music Industry Program: Music Industry 104A, music and the law, a survey class covering legal aspects of the music business; Music Industry 104B, legal and business aspects of the recording Industry; and Music Industry 181, Forensic Musicology, which he co-teaches with musicologist Judith Finell, a class that explores the intersection between copyright law and music.

At the Peabody Conservatory, as an adjunct professor, Don lectures on Music and the Law and Legal and Business Aspects of the Recording Industry.

At the Berklee School at Valencia, Spain, Don is a visiting professor where he lectures on issues in the music industry and does one on one consultations students on their career objectives.

At CalArts, as a visiting professor, Don teaches a class focused on live theater and the law, including copyright and fair use issues, legal and business structures in live entertainment, and case studies in producing and financing Broadway shows.
